Fit Kid Champions
Fit Kid Champions is a private sector partner of Project Healthy Schools. Fit Kids has been developed and tested over the past 6 years. The recent partnership adds a major fitness component to Project Healthy Schools outreach program to “get kids moving”. Fit Kids has developed a transportable, “fun” toolkit to educate, motivate and reward changes from a child’s sedentary lifestyle to an active one. It has been tested in Michigan, California and Florida. Children collect “miles” and log them into FKC interactive log (an equivalency conversion component translates all activity into miles). Children are rewarded throughout the year for staying active and for improving. A virtual training program and monthly virtual events are also available
Project Healthy Schools
For the health of our children, it's time to take a stand. That is where the Project Healthy Schools comes in. Designed to teach students about heart-healthy lifestyles, with hopes of reducing their future risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes, the project is supported by a broad community partnership.
Our Goals are:
- Eat more fruits and vegetables
- Make better beverage choices
- Include at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week
- Eat less fast and fatty foods
- Spend less time in front of the TV and computer
Team Red White and Blue
Team RWB’s mission is to assist a different group of wounded veterans annually by establishing a direct support structure that not only meets their individuals needs, but also connects them to the Americans supporting their recovery. From a grassroots level, Team RWB will achieve its mission through three main avenues. First, Team RWB athletes will use numerous events throughout the year, primarily marathons and triathlons, to fundraise for these veterans. Along the way, we will fund these veterans' travel to a number of the events to enable them to meet the great Americans who have trained hard and raised money on their behalf. Second, Team RWB will tailor a plan specific to each wounded veteran’s needs and use contributions to make a significant impact on each of their lives throughout the sponsorship. Team RWB followers and contributors can see their impact through pictures and personal comments from the veterans on our website. Finally, Team RWB will combine forces with other wounded veteran organizations in order to maximize the support efforts given to all wounded veterans in our continued quest to adequately say “thank you” for the sacrifices they have made that have changed their lives forever.
VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System
Voluntary Service at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System organizes the activities of volunteers and manages donations of services and supplies for the benefit of patients.
We provide support for patient needs that cannot be funded with the appropriated budget (e.g. toiletries, emergency travel and lodging, bus tokens, phone cards, etc.).
